For instance, summer is consistently hot and humid. Probably not the absolute most intense place in the US in reference to heat and humidity but it's on up there.
Winters alternate between drab, rainy, weather for several days at a time (depending on the weather system- beware the "Carolina Wedge"), but sometimes sunny & invigorating weather, with a little snow (maybe an inch or 2 during an active year in eastern NC near the beaches), but more significant snow the further west and the higher in elevation you go in the mountains.
Fall and Spring sometimes have ideal temperatures, sunshine with blue skies, low humidity and an overall pleasant feel to the air. However, you won't have that for 6 months out of the year counting both season. Fall and Spring alternate between feeling more like winter, more like summer, and then several weeks (not months) of idea "perfect" weather.
NC can have large variations between the same season in different parts of the state. Winter in Boone and winter in Wilmington, while quite different summer in each location, are also quite different from each other.
