Looks as if our highway use, automobile purchase and registration taxes will be going up.

Great idea considering we have some of the worst roads in the country.

I would disagree with that assessment.

Same. NC's roads are pretty damn good compared to some of the crap I've encountered while traveling in other states, especially Michigan. I could always tell when I crossed into Michigan from Ohio on I-75 without looking at the "Welcome to Pure Michigan" sign. My last trip there was in 2013 for my cousin's HS graduation and looking at Google Streetview now, it's the same, if not worse.

The only real botch job I've personally seen in NC was when I-795 was first built. It quickly fell apart barely a year later in 2008 because the pavement was too thin and couldn't handle the weight of the semis. It wasn't fun dodging potholes nearly every day. NCDOT ended up having nearly all of it repaved a couple of years later. That was a pretty huge black eye on them.

Agreed. Compared to a lot of the country our roads are pretty good considering we have a lot of them in this big ole state of ours.

Have you ever been to SC? Vermont?
Now that is some bad roads but SC is surely the worst right around these parts.

Let’s get back to inmate roadway litter cleanup instead of contracting that work out.
