How come 1/3 of the D's got the memo to be present?
Im not sure what the significance of the text message to the reporter was. But it's kinda moot. He could've been referring to some other vote, or maybe the vote that was taken to veto the budget bill was at 900, etc. In that text he specifically said 830. The whole context of that message wasn't presented and even so it was a message to a reporter...
What you don't understand is that the budget override item has been on every day's house agenda for weeks. You can go here and see for yourself: https://www.ncleg.gov/Calendars/All/House. And 8:30 is the time the house convened that day. Those involved knew exactly the question being asked.
So, if thats the case why did the republicans choose September 10th as the day to actually hold the vote? Answer, because they lied and told the democrats there wouldn't be a vote that day, just like their hadn't been a vote for weeks. Its really crystal clear, and has now been corroborated by the text you are referring to. Continuing to defend this inexcusable behavior is, well, inexcusable.

What I don't understand is if they lied why did a bunch of D's show up?
He said she said. And the D's story doesn't add up. They are just trying to blame the R's for the D's screw up.
The text was to a reporter. It's irreverent. And again has zero context.

Maybe not everybody got the message. Thats irrelevant. And its not a "screw up" by the democrats, its deliberate misrepresentation by the republicans.
The test to the reporter in no way lacks context. Thats absurd. Its crystal clear. The democrats story adds up perfectly to anyone who understands how the GA works.
Raising kids is not a parrallel to politics, especially stealing. In this case nobody broke any laws or rules. People are up in arms because procedural rules were followed and the outcome is not what they desired. There is no way yo correlate that to child rearing.
And no sir, thank YOU for adding absolutely nothing to the discussion, especially with your last sentence.
Raising kids is the perfect analogy for politics today because most of the issues are lessons you learn as a child. You can choose to be obtuse about it... which is clear from your posting pattern. That's fine.
But it doesn't change the fact that government is completely broken when one party uses a majority or deceptive practices to override basic check and balances intended by our Constitution. Being OK with that for any of the reasons you list is petty and short sighted.
BTW, I would be saying the same thing whatever party acted this way. On the other hand, you and your ilk (who only care when it's the "other party") is the core of the issue with politics today. Adults acting like petulant children.
Only a single Democrat was out at a 9/11 memorial. Where were the others? Yet if you read the media stories, they tried to cover up for their absence and claim everyone was there. In fact, Cooper even tried to create a fundraising opportunity over it and inferred the reason why the vote was called is because the reps were with him.

State sen. Jeff Jackson created a thread on Reddit talking about the session and why it was "skeletal".
