Currently living in Florida and I hate this place. I’m looking to relocate as a single mom with 2 kids. My 3 year old has Type 1 Diabetes and will need a good daycare/aid to watch him so I can work and my 13 year old has high functioning Autism/ADHD and will need services. I’ve been doing extensive research and have been able to narrow it down to a few states but this is my criteria:

4 seasons
Cost of living well enough for a hard working single parent.
Commute no more than 45 minutes for work and 15 minutes to major department/grocery store.
Jobs that will consider lengthy experience in security and investigations. Doesn’t need to be government/public sector.
Good schools that understand medical and developmental needs
Resources for kids
Safe area
I’m Hispanic so I would like a diverse and friendly community

I’m in need a specific areas in your state along with why. Medical insurance/Care? Laws are fairly reasonable and support a mother.

I would suggest Winston Salem. The cost of living is astonishingly low for a city of it's size (250K population) and amenities. The schools are generally good to very good, there's plenty to do for kids, generally pretty safe, fairly good size Hispanic community (15%), probable decent options for work, not traffic congested, friendly locals and an actual four seasons (fairly mild winters).

Winston was going to be my first suggestion as well. It's a great little city with a lot to offer, flies under the radar.
