Can anyone enlighten me to this area's economy, hospital availability, general living conditions, crime rate, social life, entertaining and happiness quota if possible....LOL My son is considering the area and I'm near the coast if NC Carolina, so know little of it also. Thanks.

Nothing to say about it just rural living. You would be traveling to Lumberton and fayetville for more amenities.

I won't say it's a bad idea as long as your son know what rural living is like or wants it

This will answer many of your questions:
//www.city-data.com/city/St.-Pa...-Carolina.html

The population is very low-income, but the crime rate is lower than average. There is no hospital, but there are clinics and nursing homes. As, said you would go to Fayetteville or Lumberton for more services.

We drove through St Paul in September 2018, as we drove from Raleigh, back to the coast following Hurricane Florence. Not much to see. Poor, small, rural town.

My ex-MIL's family was from St. Pauls. We visited there a couple of times a years during our short (4 years) marriage. I thought it was a cute little town, though it was definitely not an affluent area. This was many years ago (been married 28 years to my second husband).

It's a city on the decline the locals millennials are moving to Fayetteville and Raleigh for work. The ones that stay often work at nearby 4 chicken/turkey process plants. Large native American population there. This place and surrounding area tends to flood a lot when hit by Hurricanes.
