So hypothetically,

If there is a property with many residents residing on that property (multi unit development). Can the main terms of the lease agreement vary from person to person (other than the obvious, per month for the cost of the rental)?

For instances, can one resident be required to provided a 60-day written notice of vacating while another isn't required?

This situation would be in NC.

And if this is the case, did the landlord change the terms of the agreement?

Thanks.

I do realize this isnt legal advice, I am consulting a Lawyer regarding this matter in the future. But I was curious if City-Data had any experts or knowledge of this circumstance.

Leases do not have to be consistent among all tenants. Each lease has to conform with any pertinent NC laws of course.

I agree with Edward Teach above. I own a duplex and the lease agreement I have with each tenant is individual and may differ from the other. I’m not sure what you mean about the landlord changing the terms of the agreement. The tenant should have a copy of the signed lease agreement and the landlord cannot change the terms agreed upon with that individual tenant for that individual unit, but the other tenants and their agreed upon terms are not relevant.
If your issue is about time frames for giving notice of vacating, definitely consult with an attorney, because it will matter if you are under a current lease agreement or not for what you are liable for. As in, if your lease expired and you had not signed a new one but were going month to month vs still being in the time period of an existing lease.
