Due to damage repair costs from recent hurricanes and Map Act settlements.

Awesome. Laying off workers and putting off infrastructure repair and development due to costs. Meanwhile, illegal immigration costs the state $2 Billion per year and Democrats have zero problem with it. We are friggin doomed as a country. Our priorities are as backwards as it gets and it's disgusting.

No mention of race was made in the post. You're the one bringing race into this.

As a civil engineer that is looking to move to NC in the next year or two, this is really disheartening news that will surely hurt my job prospects. I was torn between NC and SC, but this may have made the decision much easier.

I'm sorry about the job prospects.

What is also disheartening are grandstanding politicians that care more for those who come here illegally than for their own citizens.

In addition to these layoffs, many previously approved construction projects are being delayed for a year or 2.

Bingo. Not only do illegals cost the state so much, but they also take blue collar jobs. Illegals have taken all the drywall hanging jobs in my area and the American handymen cant compete because the illegals dont pay taxes
