I am attempting to look up homes for rent in the area and am having a hard time finding anything. Can anyone give me some websites or companies. Reminder, realtors have to PM me due to the website rules. We DO NOT want to buy first hand because we want to get to know the area before we buy.

As far as rentals go, have you checked the local paper there? It's called Goldsboro News Argus and they do their big real estate listing (both buying and renting) on Sundays. I'm not sure that their listings online are very comprehensive, though.
And, it wouldn't hurt to contact a couple of the local property management/realtors there. I'm not familiar with any currently but I ask for you because we know many people there.
For gyms, almost everyone we know uses the YMCA. They have excellent programs for kids, as well as adults. There is also Gold's Gym but I'm not sure of their family friendliness! Good luck with your move!
