Hello all!
My husband and I are planning a move to N.C. We were first considering the Raleigh area and have heard great things about Apex and such when my husband decided that he can't live without the beach. He wants to work remote and live in a cute coastal town. I am somewhat familiar with Wilmington after having visited twice and really enjoying myself, however I was not aware of the apparent crime. Living in Baltimore now, I am looking to find peace from inner-city crime! If anyone has seen The Wire on HBO, which is based in Baltimore, I'm looking for the opposite of that!! I'm wondering if there are any great quaint, coastal towns. We are young too, so we do require some livelihood, such as a mall, great areas to eat out in the evening. I'm not too interested in Myrtle Beach as I equate that with my experiences in Panama City Beach, Fl. (a long strip, receding beach line littered with beer cans). Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!!

I have lived in New bern since 1983. I have never had to call police or deal with a crime.

Southport is a quaint little town just south of Wlmington. Not sure of any crime there, but you could research it. Good luck with the move!
