It may as good as it gets on the east coast, but summers are way too muggy, and very cold weather does occur, although generally only for short periods.

I wouldn't say the climate in Raleigh is "perfect," but I do think it's the most tolerable climate on the East Coast. Florida during the summer was way too hot for me for regularly daily activities and anything north of like Virginia gets too cold for me during the winter. Yeah, it gets humid here and pretty cold sometimes during the winter, but it doesn't last long. I think tolerable is the best way to describe it. I like it.
Most months of the year, I think the Columbia area of SC has the best weather. Also, Columbia is very close to the beaches and mountains (I-26 in either direction). NC is a close second to SC when it comes to "comfortable" weather.

Nope, definitely doesn't exist on the east coast unless you're in the higher elevations (Maybe Boone for example). Although winters here are usually mild, but summers still get very hot and humid, just for a shorter time period than say Florida.
