Concentrate on looking in these towns Carrboro, Chapel Hill, Davidson, Winston Salem

I would also suggest Durham too which is near Carrboro & Chapel Hill.

Durham is progressive and has a strong black community, lots of activities and social groups. I would highly recommend at least giving Durham a good look.
