I looked up Toneyville in the North Carolina Gazetteer - A Dictionary of Tar Heel Places by William S. Powell, but no listing. It's a good source of NC place names both past and present. Are you sure of the spelling?

I'm not sure if it was ever official named toneyville. My grandfather name was Toney and I was just recently told that the family name was so well known that everyone referred to the town as toneyville. I thank you for the help

There's quite a few Toney's in the state, but they don't appear to be clustered in any particular area of the NC.
