Jesse Helms of North Carolina has died at age 86. He represented North Carolina in the United States Senate from 1973-2003. Helms remains to date the longest-serving popularly-elected U.S. senator in North Carolina history.
A viewing for former North Carolina Sen. Jesse Helms will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, July 7, at Hayes-Barton Baptist Church, 1800 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, N.C.
A funeral will be held at the church on Tuesday, July 8, at 2 p.m.
UNC-TV will carry coverage of the funeral and insights into Helms and his mark on society at 7:30 p.m.
UNC-TV will carry “Biographical Conversations with Jesse Helms” at 8 p.m.
Highlights of the Helms memorial service will be carried at 9 p.m. on UNC-TV
