Well, there's plenty of room to go around in both Western VA and NC Truth be told I'm glad I don't see those Charlotte-sized suburban developments in my neck of the woods Every house pictured here is quite attractive but so similar to the next that I'd be in deep trouble. I'm the poster boy for A.D.D. and I'd need GPS just to get myself home without trying my garage door opener on six wrong houses before I found mine In my area of Franklin County, Virginia, there are active developments but they've got a different feel. And perhaps they target a different market also. Here, you'll see developments where each 1-5 acre lot house is custom built, and quite different from the next. Usually a $450k to $500k house and that gets you 11' ceilings, crown and base mouldings, marble, 4-5 bedrooms, 4,000 sq ft of wood moulded brick, a massive fireplace, nice mountain views, so on. Take the same money and buy in NoVA and you're looking at a basic 4 bedroom vinyl colonial in Winchester. I'm not sure the Charlotte area is that bad yet?

Nice idea to post pictures of subdivisions. I see we have some good photographers here. That village at Rosedale sounds like The Villages at Rolesville (similar in appearance), small lots, homes close together (too close for my liking). Our subdivision has 1-1.5 acre lots, which we wanted. But, the Villages at Rolesville are nice - homes from about $170K up. Three builders there, one builds homes $400K plus. I'd add a photo, but don't know how to do that here. Anyway, nice idea to hve photos. It's good to see different areas.

On this thread read through them, "MarkH" explains how to post your picture. It was actaully very easy to do.

Not for nothing but these houses look like they were built with tooth picks and a strong wind would take them out completely.

What happened to good quilty homes???

Standard frame housing nowadays, if you want something solid you need a house at least 30 years old.

I remember as a kid a brick house we had two complete sets of brick then the plaster (do not think drywall board was around)

Even the brick house nowadays only have one thin brick layer.

Our brick house in NY was one solid layer of brick, then studs & sheetrock- it was only insulated in the attic!!!! So much for quality craftsmanship from "back in the day"!!!! As we re-sheetrocked, we insulated!
