My family and I are going to be moving to the Salisbury area in the next year or so. We are looking to purchase land (10 or more acres) in a great little town close (30 to 45 minutes) to the "big" city. We want the rural lifestyle with views of pastures and a great country living, but with a grocery store at least and maybe a Wal-Mart too. (Target would be even better)!! Any suggestions on great little towns? Also, schools are important as we have two elementary aged children.

Thanks for your help.

We live 22 miles from Salisbury and have everything you mentioned plus!! We live near Albemarle, Stanly county. There are so many great areas around Salisbury you shouldn't have a problem finding what you want. Our town is New London and the population is around 400....but we are right next to Albemarle and Badin Lake which are both larger populations. We moved here almost 2 years ago and love it! The Wal-Mart is a 15 minute drive from us as is many other nice larger stores like Lowes, Belks, JC Penny, Sears appliance store, Food Lion, Harris Teeter and many more. The schools seem to be nice but I don't have any children at home anymore so you might want to check that out on-line!
