I have not been there yet but hear so many positives. I was born and raised in Boston and I cannot tolerate living here anymore. I am ashamed to be Bostonian. Btwn the filth of the city to the rude people and insane traffic, I just have to find my happiness somewhere. So NC is one of my picks of possible places ( I want to stay east to be a short flight from family). I have heard about the friendly people, improved commute, lovely weather, etc. I really would like to know what any of you suggests for what areas, cities, towns are best for a single female? I am not a club/bar person but I don't want to feel too old either (lol). I love the outdoors and definitely want to live in a nice area full of trees that isn't too congested or noisy but not in the middle of nowhere. A diverse neighborhood... I am not worried about schools since I don't have kids and do not want any. Access to malls, restaurants, hospitals, etc...Any suggestions would be great. thanks.

Sounds like Winston Salem is for you. Go to the triad forum and you will find many threads describing that town.

Winston is known as the city of trees.

A good mix of single and families are in that area , great hospital, cool mall, lots of extra curricular ideas if you know how to find them.

It is in the middle of the state so if you get the urge to visit the mountains or coast it is within a short drive or visit one of the larger cities for a day trip on a weekend.

I think it would help also to know what you do for a living. We're in Winston Salem right now, and yes it's beautiful! But depending on what you do career wise another city within the state may be a better fit for you.

Hi MaxxMe. Thank you, yes, I do administrative/bookkeeper type work (office manager). I hope there are enough admin type of jobs around these parts. Thanks.
