Years ago my husband and I spent the summer in NC and while driving around found a town called Seven Springs. There was an old, uninhabited two-story house on the property and an old spring house.
What ever happened to it? We always thought that it would be the coolest place to fix up and clean up the springhouse area.

Does no one know about Seven Springs? I'm beginning to think that it was a figment of my imagination!

I grew up about 20 miles from Seven Springs which is on the Neuse River and the main highway is NC 55. I have visited the old spring houses as well as an old pavillion like building but that was 30 years ago. I do remember seeing the old pavillion like building while canoeing by it several years ago. I do not know anything more than that.

Thank you. I might make a road trip to check it out this summer- I love that area. I remember Cliffs of the Neuse. I love the mountains and the beaches of NC, but that area is my favorite.

Seven Springs NC
I grew up across the street from the dirt road that leads to the spring house you are talking about. All of the property from Hwy 55 down to the edge of town is privately owned. Until Hurricane Fran came through, the owners actually sold bottled water from the seven springs that came into that spring house. My grandmother says that each spring helped a different ailment. She and my parents fondly remember dances on the river in the pavilion. The owners are not interested in fixing the area up and allowing tourists to visit now. There use to also be a hotel there, on the hill. Part of it is being used as a residence for the property owners. In its day, the hotel and springs were a hot spot for travelers since the springs were thought to have healing powers.

I know where Seven Springs is. Two of my friends just bought a house there off of 903 on the road where the big church is south of 55. That's all I know....except it's a little town you'd miss if you blinked. Oh, and the cops like to sit in the cemetery and run speed traps on 903. Last place you'd expect to see a cop out in the country.

Thank you and to the others who have shared info. It's a shame that the springhouse isn't open to the public. Beautiful area and rich history.

The old uninhabited two-story house on the property and old spring house were most likely on Spring Street. It was the Tall Pines Mineral Springs and the house was what we today call a Bed & Breakfast and boarding home operation. The Tall Pines Mineral Springs was owned by and run by my wife's uncle, Laska Head. Tall Pines was on the same street and about 3/4 miles from the Seven Springs and the Seven Springs Hotel. Too bad history like this only resides in old people like me.

I remember going inside the spring house in the fifties. It was fascinating that the seven "wells" had different tasting water.
