McCrory won't act to save jobless checks :: WRAL.com

Ok. So, remind me of what he's personally risking (besides his career)?

All I know is that the majority of workers who lose their benefits will have to lower their job sights.....But then you will more people joining the ranks of the underemployed. And thats really sad...Its a waste of human potential.Bottom line, there are still not enough jobs here to accommodate the unemployed. Too many people have relocated to NC, which is not necessarily a bad thing, however the state has been unable to accommodate the influx of people with decent jobs.

I guess Art Pope will have plenty of cheap, overqualified applicants to his retail stores.

Overqualified = not hired. And if they were hired it would just crowd out the less qualified so the numbers wouldn't change.

I can't argue with that. You're correct.

I do wonder why McCrory talked about the risk HE was taking. Odd choice of words.

I wonder why the feds didn't answer the request for an exemption. They granted it to other states but ignored North Carolina? While I think these cuts are draconian, why should the feds be punishing the unemployed when the rates are being lowered to what they are in surrounding states? Those rates were OK to the feds just as long as they didn't change. But try parity and the stick comes out. But who does the stick hit? Maybe in the long run the GOP but that's a lot of collateral damage Obama could have mitigated.

He's personally risking the future of those not able to find work. This would be a move I might make after the economy recovered and the revenue stream was flowing.
