Is anyone tuned into the arts and crafts activities in NC? Are there a lot of shows during the year, or just mostly around Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons? We found some nice ones at churches and schools last year, but we found them purely by accident.

Does anybody publish a directory of craft shows? where we come from, we had a directory that was available for purchase and was helpful in planning ahead.

I'm a crafter/painter (Donna Dewberry certified instructor) and did quite a bit of crafting before we moved to NC. I'd like to get involved in shows again, but don't quite know where to start. There's a long lead time to reserve table space, so waiting until a show is advertised to the pubic is not the thing to do.

So - anybody into crafting and showing? I'd love to share ideas, hear about your creative crafts, and where you display them. I'm also looking for crafters to contact during the year for special gifts of items that I don't (and can't) make -- like jewelry.)

Thanks, and looking forward to hearing from all of you who love to go to shows just to browse for gifts, or those who create and show.

craftlister (dot-com) is a place you can look. You type in your zipcode & a mile radius & it gives you a listing. You could also do a websearch for craft fairs & festivals in NC & see what comes up. I do direct sales & have found a number of events (to either sell at or just go with my family) this way. Also check out any of the "mommy & me" or parenting type free publications you see at the supermarket, they sometimes have events listed in them. Also, you could call local churches or chambers of commerce to see what events are coming up.

GOOD LUCK!

The American Craft Council has a show in Charlotte once a year. This year it is Nov. 2-4. It is an awesome show! You can buy stuff for under $20 to over $10,000. Web site: http://www.craftcouncil.org/

Another option is The Southern Highland Craft Guild in Asheville.

http://www.ncfestivals.com/festivals/default.asp is a pretty good source in addition to the one BxRosie posted

What about craft or art type 'stores' that sell items for people on consignment? There's one in Winston-Salem that would sell craft items on consignment, but only for non-professionals. That's me now, but Winston-Salem is now a looong ways away My crafts are silverware windchimes, so ones with garden or decoration items would be the best bet verses paintings, etc. But at this point, I'm open to any & all of your suggestions!!

Thanks in advance!

Check out the Southern Christmas Show (you could probably google it). This event runs thru two weekends in Charlotte every November and sounds right up your alley.
