I grew up on the NC coast--5 miles from the water & had fresh seafood almost every day.
Hey (light bulb moment), my wife's mom is from NC (New Bern actually). She actually spent many summers there. So does that make me a NCian once removed- lol
I'll see this, the hush puppies I had while I was in New Bern were awesome...

Well my wife just corrected me. "She's" a NCian once removed (her mother's family). Since I married her, I guess I'm a NCian by marriage? LOL, anyway she just walked away with a smirk...
I used to have a hell commute from 128 North all the way to Marlboro either down 495 or Mass Pike, Boy I don't miss that at all.
Although, I do miss RED SOX, Great italian Food, seafood- and the coastline. I miss the culture of the city back home. I miss having 4th of july parades, and other things ..Topsfield Fair etc.
I used to commute from Lakeville to Marlboro - all of the way up 495 (57 miles one way) past the Mass pike to exit 24... Worked for Fidelity Investments in Marlboro at the time...
I'm planning to move down there (either raleigh or durham) from Woburn. I've lived in the greater Boston area since I've graduated and in MA my whole life.
What areas are you guys in and how does it compare to northshore towns.
I like Raleigh for the eng. jobs but not the traffic and Charlotte for the city and insurance jobs (for my fiance) but am worried about crime.
EEK. Move to Raleigh. The only reason I would see someone choosing Durham over Raleigh is if they were going to be working on the Duke Campus. Durham is on the verge of having to close one of it's highschools (Hillside High School) because of extremely low test grades and the majority of the students not passing. When you come to the traingle and watch the news.... you will notice that about 9 out of 10 of the major crimes they report every night on the news happened in Durham.

I can't believe the crime is any worse than Boston (and yep I'm from Boston, Woburn to bat!)
