I am buying a used car & trading in my car. I have not bought a car in soooo long! The car Im buying is a 2007.

1st: Do the dealerships transfer my tags from my trade in or will they give me new tags?

2nd: Im not sure if the car was inspected in NC & if so when? Will the dealer provide this information to me - Will I need to get that done regardless since I am the new owner?

- Thanks

If you are buying the used car through a dealer, they will take care of the inspection and can also help you with the tags, whether you are transferring your plates or getting new tags. Are you working with a salesperson already? If so, ask him or her. If not, when you go to the car lot, ask the salesperson how they handle vehicle registration, tags, and inspection. Good luck!

dealership will provide you with a paper temporary 30 day tag and receipt that the car they are trying to sell has been inspected.
They cannot sell otherwise
The 30 day will be enough time for you to get new tags.

In order to get tags the dealer should inspect the car under new November law cars need to be inspected to register a car. Registration and inspection are done almost together.

go to rule 13

keep all receipts and show them to the various offices
