I was wondering if anyone could sum up any laws I should know about regarding riding motorcycles in NC. I have the motorcycle handbook. As a guide to the motorcycle traffic laws, it's totally useless - it's practically a reprint of the MSF course.

I'm wondering about things such as:

In California, it is legal to ride between two lanes of cars. I know this differs from state to state. What is the NC law on this?

I have heard that a motorcyclist who is stopped at a red light may go through that light if it goes through so many cycles without giving him the green. What is the actual law here?

I'm sure there are other laws that I'm not even thinking to ask about. Any other riders here who can help me out? Or can anyone suggest where to look, since the motorcycle handbook isn't any help?

I can tell you that CA is the ONLY state where it is legal to split lanes.

In NC, you have to ride in the traffic lanes with no more than two abreast. There is a recent law about traffic signals. Biker News: North Carolina Adopts "Safe Red Light" Law

Has the law in texas changed, then? I seem to remember a discussion (elsewhere) about someone splitting lanes in TX, and it was legal about a year or so ago.
