well, we'd need some more info from you before we could offer any real opinons. What is your motivation for moving? Do you need to find a job, if so, what kind? How much can you afford to spend to buy or rent a place?

If you want to move to the mountains is ok but all i ask is respect the land. As a local i am so fed up with people wanting to move here and build big fancy homes off the side of the mountains. Not only destroys the land but runs the animals out of their enviroment also. This area has changed so much since people are doing this to the land. The mountains are looking more choppy instead of having a rolling effect because of homes being put on them. There are other places to live in valley areas of the mountains without having to destroy the land even further.

OK, we're looking to rent a 2-3 br home w/attic or basement. (Do you know the prices?). I work from home and need high speed internet connection. We love rural, not too far from ammenities. That's about it, just quiet and beautiful nature. Thank you.

No problem respectign the land. We won't be building; we're looking to rent a home. I revere natural beauty.

I agree. I would prefer the valley's anyway, personally. VERY beautiful having the mountains surrounding us.

Seems to me that is a very tall order. Especially if you want to rent. I'm guessing you're from FL or NY ?

You cannot be rural and close to amenities with a high speed internet connection .. not that I know of. You get 7 miles out of any town, and you're rural sir.

I have a friend who lives in a cabin in the North Georgia mountains who has high speed internet. The poster did not say he didn't want to be in a rural area. And he said "not too far from ammenities". I think it is a fair question, and I think he can find it.

I am guessing you are from NC Apple?
