For those of you looking at school systems throughout NC, attached is a link to a report out yesterday on 4-year graduation rates of NC high schools.

I'm really surprised at how low the 4-year graduation rate. 68% for the state average could certainly use a lot of improvement! I wonder if the rate goes up significantly for the 5-year graduation rate.

I'm not surprised at all by the low graduation rate. Kids don't view school as a place to go and learn anymore. School is more a place to socialize and have fun. Too many have lost focus and don't realize that school is really just a competition against your peers. The best students get accepted to the top notch universities and the very best go to school for free. It's too bad so many students aren't serious about learning. The graduation rates for this state have always been low compared to the national average (some of this has to do with NC being an agriculture state) and they will stay low until parents really start to emphasize and stress the importance of education to their children.
