PS
I've been looking for properties in my price range ( low) one came up in Newton that I loved. I called the realtor. That house was no longer available, but they told me they could show me properties anywhere in the state. I've been looking in the Piedmont Triad area, I think it looks good. The realtors though, I guess because it's their territory, have been steering back to the Hickory area, and haven't been following up on listings in other areas. I do think the Hickory area looks beautiful, so was going with that. I am so glad I found out now that it would not be right for me!
And a lot of the things I started to wonder about I not only heard from friends, but on this forum.
"low" is a relative term How low exactly is your price? IF you could afford it some of your best bets are Chapel Hill, Asheville and Charlotte.
The only psych facility that I know of is in Butner, NC, and it recently moved there from Raleigh. From what I understand, there's not much in Butner except a prison. According to MapQuest, Butner is about 35 miles and 46 minutes from Raleigh. There may be other facilities where you can find employment, but I don't know what they are. You might try calling the hospitals in the Triangle area.
