Recent news about the jobless rate across the state is kinda dreary.

N.C. jobless rate jumps to 7.9 percent | CharlotteObserver.com (http://www.charlotteobserver.com/breaking/story/424760.html - broken link)

Extended articles that I read in the paper version say that NC economists figure the jobless rate will be in the double digits next year.

Jobs are not expected to return to the state until possibly late next year or maybe even late 2010.

If you're thinking of moving here and need a job to pay the bills and eat, you may want to wait a while, if you don't have a job lined up before you get here.

I'd move nowhere w/o a job now. IT is really bad off, even the state has killed most of the openings. Construction has slowed down, residential is bad here and even commercial has stopped. Healthcare is about to take a hit, a couple of the hospitals here are about to freeze hiring.
