. . . Came here from Wyoming 18 years ago to a newly-built home 20 miles from Mount Airy (Lowgap) and it's the place to be. The weather is so moderate; the people are welcoming; businesses are adequate. We found Mount Airy was in fact more satisfactory than going back over the Blue Ridged 12 miles to Galax. With the Lowgap hillside home with a view that won't stop having become too much for his, we also found a very pleasant retirement community in Mount Airy (Ridge Crest) so we can continue to be where we have been so comfortable.
