The Nash Rocky Mount School system is really weak and the administrators do little to enforce discipline. The only break in that area is if you have a very smart child that can take the advanced courses that weeds out the rift raft but there is still a very high lack of discipline problem. The administrators tend to turn the other way. My childrens greatest fears were walking down the halls to class. I was relieved when they were both out of the Nash Rocky Mount school system. I strongly recommend the Greenville area over Rocky Mount. We are moving out of Rocky Mount as soon as we can sell our house. The crime rate is scary, drugs and gangs run rampant. Please re-consider. The Crystal Coast is very nice. Onslow County provides lots of services for children with disablities.

The Nash-Rocky Mount school system might be the worst run school system in the country. Yes, I said the whole country. And thats not hyperbole.

Hi, did you ever move to Rocky Mount? I did too. Well actually in Nashville and work in RM. I can help you with information about neighborhoods and schools if you would like. I also moved here from somewhere else.

You are correct about the lack of enforcing dicipline. It is a huge problem in this school system. And you are also correct regarding getting into the advanced program, that is the only chance a child has in this system, if they are in academic classes, they will learn little because so many of those kids are out of control, and dicipline is a joke.
Nashville is an adorable town, but the middle school and high school are the worst in Nash county. Worse than Rocky Mount! So, even though Nashville is nice, the schools, with the exception of the elementary school, are terrible. Trish, make sure you really check things out, and I wish you much luck on your move!!
Beach bound soon, good luck to you as well on your move! I am also trying to move out of Rocky Mount!!
