We have two vehicles (a '94 Jeep Cherokee & a '70 Nova) on our car insurance with State Farm. We pay less than $130 every 3 months.

Our home owners insurance is included in our monthly house payment I think and is through State Farm (I think). I think we pay $800 a year, but I might be thinking of our yearly property tax. (Which I'm thinking went up to about $1000 a year after the city moved the city limits to include our neighborhood.) Not sure. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful with that.

I would suggest particularly if you are going to be anywhere near the coastal areas and even as far west as Asheville that you carry flood insurance. And you need to take that out separately as it is not included in home owners insurance. You need to do it as soon as you can because the policy has to be in effect for 30 days prior to a claim being filed and it is nearly the end of June now. Next month if we are going to have an active hurricane season things will start popping soon. And even when Alberto came through here on June 14th and it was just a depression when it got here, Raleigh got flooding and 7 inches of rain. And Nash County flooded as well. I am in Greene County and we haven't flooded yet but we are still under a flood watch for the creeks nearby that haven't crest. Unfortunately it is hard to determine what a hurricane will and won't do in terms of damage. A seemingly "mild" storm if you will can cause catastropic damage and sometimes just as much as a major storm. A lot depends on conditions prior to the actually strike. If the land has been saturated already it doesn't take much on the coastal plains of the state to cause millions of dollars in damage. Check out Hurricane Floyd of 1999. It was a real problem for a lot of people.
