I am sure everyone's neighborhood in different and opinions are going to vary, but those of you in NC, are you close to your neighbors - what I mean is do you become friends and do things togehter (BBQ's - go out with families) are kids seen playing on the street, etc..

When one leaves an area where one's family is, many believe there neighbors become family - any insights down there or does everyone wave, say hi and mind their own business

All I can say is, while I've made friends out of neighborhos here, once someone moves out of the neighborhood, you don't really maintain contact with them. There will definitely be some backyard BBQ's where neighbors will be there and you'll have a couple of beers and talk..... but it's not going to be like the friends you've knowns since you where in highschool or earlier. One thing you have to remember is that the rat race is alive and well in Wake County; people move up and out to bigger houses in nicer subdivisions as soon as they can afford it. I'm guilty of it, I've lived in 6 different places since I've been in NC (4 houses, 1 apartmant, and 1 townhome). It's weird because in retrospect, that isn't me. I have always thought moving was irritating.... now I'm about to do it again, but rest assured that will be the LAST time. The house I buy in NY is the one they are gonna have to wheel me out of. lol

Depends on the neighbors. When the ones that moved out of the house that Robert lives in now, I would have about paid their moving cost to get rid of them. So no we don't have any contact. Anything I know about them now I found out strickly by accident. Robert and Gwen are another matter. I would really hate to see them leave. And while we don't do a lot of socializing, unless you count Robert having to get his monster dog away from me and me having to let Robert back in his house when he locks himself out about the only thing we share is his swimming pool. I don't particularly care that much about it but I use to go over there with Kristopher and Brianna.

We say hi to the neighbors but don't have eachother over for dinner etc. I have always wanted neighbors like on I Love Lucy or the **** Van **** show where they became best friends...but we have this knack of moving in next to older people. They make great neighbors but we really don't have much in common.

If your neighborhood has a pool though you may meet up with people there that you hang out with. I'm meeting all the kiddie pool moms this year...in between wiping noses, applying sunscreen, and kissing scraped knees. I'm hoping by next year my youngest will be able to swim well enough so I can move to the bigger kid pool where all the lounging and snacking moms are!

LOL, it took me awhile to figure out why there were little * stars in my post! I was reffering to that old TV show that stars Mary Tyler Moore and Mr. D. VanDyke. I guess the forum automatically puts the stars in when you type those words? How funny.

Yeah it does. It takes out words that I never considered that it would take out.
