Hi there so glad to have found this site, my dearest GF and I are looking into relocating our families to North Carolina. We are debating between Charlotte, Asheville, Chapel Hill, and Raleigh.
I going to try and be as specific as possible as to what we are looking for. I am hoping you guys could be so kind as to head us in the right direction. We are driving down to NC in a few weeks and want to have a clear agenda.
We both have 2 small children ages 8 & 6, so we are really looking for an area with GREAT schools, including highschools, of course. Friendly family oriented neighborhoods were children run and play outside. We would like to be near 10-20 min from a town.
We are getting a little confused about the areas within the cities, that would accommodate our needs. We are in the 400,000 price range.
Anyone have any feelings about Cornelius, and Mooresville? and are there any towns, with a main street in either of these areas?

It would be REALLY helpful if you would narrow down your scope considerably. Also, is there a particular reason you wish to avoid the entire Piedmont-Triad region (Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point)? There will be a huge number of housing options in your 400,000 range no matter where you end up.
As far as Cornelius and Mooresville, as well as the entire Lake Norman area, I personally have nothing but positive feelings. It's a great place to live.
Thanks for your input I appreciate it, I realize we are all over the place, we are focusing more on Charlotte, however we were a little concerned with the schools, we have really been liking the Ballantyne area any thoughts?
I don't think I've heard anyone here have something very bad to say about living in the Ballantyne/South Charlotte area. I personally don't live on that side, but I like it a lot.
You will want to live near your job. That will help you make your decision.
