I usually don't listen to country music anymore. I grew up on late 80s and early 90s country and that was the best to me. Country is just way too poppy today and a lot of the lyrics are just stupid sounding. I mostly listen to blues, classic rock and alternative now.
But right before I got out of my truck from going to lunch I decided to see what was on our local country station and "Song of the South" by Alabama came on. This song just makes my hair rise on my arm and just fills me with pride.
In addition to the songs that have already been mentioned, Southern Grace by Little Texas, Slow Me Down by Shelby Lynne and Gone to Carolina by Shooter Jennings.
Damn they didn't make music like this anywhere else. Gotta love that slide guitar.
