Hi all!

I am a young (23yr old) single graphic designer looking to start a new life in North Carolina. I’m from Erie, PA (up where it’s cold and snowy 6 months out of the year) and I’m relocating for warmer weather and more job opportunities. I’m pretty sure NC is where I want to be, however I don’t know if Raleigh or Charlotte is a better area. Which would be better for young singles and young professionals? I plan on moving this summer so any help would be great. I love to run, so being near good parks is a must. I love art and culture so I need a place with museums and galleries. I also love to eat so great restaurants and bars for the night life is also a must. I’m only 23 and won’t know a soul so I hope NC is welcome to newcomers. Any tips on making friends and groups to join?

Thanks

It all depends on what you like. Charlotte is the biggest city in NC so if you like city life then there you go. Raleigh has more of a combination of city and county living. Both have all the things that you mentioned you like. Plus they boith have IT jobs. Of course u have RTP near Raleigh which is suppose to be the IT capital for NC. I would suggest you come down and visit both areas if you could. I like the Raleigh area better, cause if you like to go on weekend trips it's a quick trip to the beach or to the mountains. Charlotte is more out of the way.

You can make the mountains in 2 hours from Charlotte to the beach in 3-4 so it's still close. I suggest you move here so I can meet you I lived in Buffalo for 10 years and had to train for a former job in Erie a few times.
