If this just a long standing pattern that NC has had a lot of posters? Or does it have to do with the Money magazine article or is there some reason? Totally new to the site so when I saw that I was sort of shocked
It's funny...but sometimes this thread doesn't even talk about NC. Lot's of talk about other states etc. It does seem like there are alot of Floridians trying to escape to NC though.

A girlfriend of mine lives there now and she say it even happens in business out there.

That's funny, when I lived there almost all of the people I met were either "Jack" mormons (dont go to church) or they weren't mormon at all. Plus, I have bi-racial children and I'll tell you one thing, I have never felt so uncomfortable in my whole life as I did grocery shopping with my husband and kids. I had a guy stand in the freezer section and just stare at us.....strange!!

Needless to say, I was there for 3 months, I couldn''t have gotten out any faster!!!

That explains it. Those are more tight-knit communities. I was in Salt Lake
/Sandy area. My mom just moved back there from here in AZ. She loves it there. She has her side of the family there. It is beautiful, but NOT for me and my family.

Funny thing you mention St.George. It was on the "top ten next hottest housing markets" last year. My Aunt&Uncle from cali went and bought a new home there and are trying to rent it out. When they went to their closing, they realized the homebuilder dropped prices by like $40K. Maybe not so hot market????

yeah...I was there back in 84...I've heard it has recently been called the Palm Springs of Utah. Sounds like alot of housing markets are starting to dry up a bit. I'm sure it was on the top ten because it was affordable compared to Cali (I'm from there...San Diego) etc....people leaving in droves to find cheaper housing or investment.
