What's up with no fences around the backyards? What do people do about their dogs? I may have missed this discussion if you have already addressed this concern.

A six foot fence will be a must for us: we have a Scottish Deerhound...

Check with your community some say yes and some say no. Most I have called say yes. I certainly would not buy a home that didn't allow it. I have a dog too. Like my privacy too. Sometimes I like to sit out in my PJ's

If they say yes, remember to ask what style. Some have a style in writing you can only use and a dog can still get out.

As for PJ's well skip that topic

Easily. We have large, athletic sighthounds. Here's a pic of one we used to have in a coursing competition. My back is turned to preserve my modesty.

That's a beatiful dog. Looks similar to a greyhound.

LOL, I don't think the other poster realized how large Deerhounds are. They could practically step over a 5' wall (ok, just a slight exaggeration). Heck, the little 40lb Aussie I used to have would jump up and hang over the top of my 6' block wall.

Regarding fences, I wouldn't live anywhere that didn't have one either. That was one thing I specifically looked for when I purchased my home - a block wall. I like my privacy too. Then my neighbor goes and puts in a pool with a 8'(?) slide.
