Driver ed is in the high school. I heard it is like a week or less?
In my previous life in another state you were allowed to do a road test / written test (pass both) and get a license if you were over 18 without a permit or driver ed classes.
Wow, only one week! I don't see how anyone can learn how to drive in one week. How are you supposed to learn how to drive in such a short period of time and be ready to take the road test? The whole point of a permit in NY is to be able to learn how to drive with an instructor or licensed driver. You take enough lessons under supervision so you'll be ready to take the road test. Thinking back to my own situation, I got my permit in July and took the road test in October. I can't remember exactly how many lessons I took but I'd guess at least 10. I also drove with my father a few times. I didn't take drivers ed in HS. In NY you can't operate a car without a permit or license.

Some think it is the short driver's ed program(at least in JoCo) that has contributed to Johnston County having the highest teen driver mortality rate in teh state of NC....
Maybe other counties have a longer driver's ed program?
I have a similar question, and difference of opinion as my SO
If i have a vehicle with financing in my mothers name in FL, can i register it in NC, even though im on her insuranc policy?

The owner of the car needs to register it, and if registered in the state of North Carolina, it must be insured here.
