I live in Alexander County in Taylorsville a 25 minute drive . . .
Towns I would suggest checking out: Taylorsville, Bethlehem, Hiddenite - but that is another ten minutes to Hickory, Granite Falls, southern Lenoir, Newton, Hilldebrand, and Mountain View.
Before I moved, I found that you can get more for your money right now in Alexander County, although from reading hte paper and talking to the realtors . . . alot of people are interested now in this small town, and real estate has not slowed down here. Might be a good investment.

Newton is a good place to look.It is near hickory and is a nice big open area. i lived in netwton but was closer tohickory than to newton. ya go figure. we liked the area but moved to Lincolnton for personal reasons.
