Well, I've lived all over the midwest since I was born. I've currently live in the U.P. of Michigan for 10 years, and while I love the land (live a couple blocks from mile-long sandy beaches on lake superior) I miss ND. I was born in SD, lived in ND twice, lived in Minnesota twice, and now I'm in Michgian.

Anyway, all my family is from ND and I love the state. I know the economic boom there is huge right now and I'm interested in making some money. College gets out in April and starts up again in late august. I'd like to be working in ND for those months. I already know there's jobs, but there's housing shortages, etc... and all that fun stuff.

To get to my point, I want a job where I work long hours so I can't really do a lot (point if this summer is make and SAVE money). Is it pretty easy to get jobs in the oil Fields, or anything that pays decent (I.E. $9/hr+) and gives you plenty of hours? If I live in Minot I'd be able to stay with my Grandma for low rent, but I've also lived near Bismarck and love that area. Just looking for some advice on where to look for jobs, I'm serious about wanting to work and save money. I would stay in Michigan if I could, but there's not much for work for young people (I'm 18).

nicknd...Minot has a few Oil service companies located there (and if they are like the few hundred over in Williston...you can bet you would be making WAY over $9. pr hourd). PureEnergy, Pumpco, Key, Halliburton is building a service center there as well...so YES...Minot would be a good choice. If you went further west to the Williston area...you would have problems finding housing at this time...but living with your Grandma would be a win win for you! Good Luck!
