Elkhunter, is there a way to call more attention to this thread. This is the most comprehensive weather information I have seen, invaluable information to those folks either already in the oil related areas, or trying to come here.

this hazardous weather outlook is for portions of north central
north dakota...northwest north dakota...south central north
dakota...southeast north dakota and southwest north dakota.
.day one...today and tonight
there is a chance for light snow across portions of northwest
through south central north dakota today. Areas from williston and
watford city...through dickinson and mott...could receive an inch
or two...with little or no accumulation to the east. The light snow
will diminish early tonight.
By request here is the post regarding U.S. climate normals
As for weather info....NWS sites have been posted which can give you the latest forecast and most importantly watch/warning info and Elk Hunter posted webcams as well. You can get the forecast from any number of sources, but only the NWS issues the watches/warnings. NWS Bismarck serves the west/central parts of the state and NWS Grand Forks the east (Devils Lake to Valley City east).
--------------------
Here is by far the best site I know of to look at normals (temp/precip/snowfall) for all the various stations in the country.
You can choose to pick monthly normals or daily normals. Then click on a state and it will show normals for all the climate stations out there. Some stations are cooperative observer stations that may only do temperature or precipitation or both. Airport stations would have all.
Great resource.... The person who runs Golden Gate weather page is a former NWS met, now a certified consulting meteorologist in the San Francisco area. All data comes from the National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, NC. They are the only ones who issues these normals and is the official climate record data place.

...a little snow along with gusty winds and much colder weather is
on the way to west and central north dakota...
This special weather statement is being issued by your national

change in the weather is on the way. The recent warm spell of record
high temperatures will be replaced by weather that is more typical
for north dakota this time of year.
It will be mild today...with rain showers developing this afternoon
...changing to snow showers tonight as a gusty northwest wind ushers
in much colder air. When it is snowing visibility will be reduced
in blowing snow.
Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with gusty winds...snow showers...
Areas of blowing snow reducing visibility...and temperatures in the
teens and 20s.
We are not forecasting a significant amount of snow. Around an
inch or so is expected at most places...possibly as much as two
inches along the canadian border.
For wednesday night into thursday wind chills of 15 to 25 below zero
are forecast.

Flood watch

...the flood watch continues for the following rivers in north
dakota...
Missouri river near williston affecting williams and mckenzie
counties
for the missouri river basin including williston...high water is
occurring and is expected to continue.
.as of early wednesday morning the level of the missouri river at
williston was at 22.1 ft. The river appears to have leveled off over
the past 24 hours and should slowly begin to recede over the next 24
hours. High water continues to affect low lying land adjacent to the
river and access to a few oil wells between trenton and williston.
Upstream river gages at culbertson and sidney are lower than their
highest readings over the past week...but not by much. This suggests
that while little threat exists for significantly higher water along
the trenton to williston reach of the missouri...one should also not
expect significantly lower water in the near future. Relief from this
episode of high water will only come as the river channel near
the williston gage gains efficiency over the coming days and weeks.
