My family is moving to Bismarck at the end of the month. I have never been and have been trying to do some research on the area of our new apartment. I think its considered downtown Boismarck near the kirkwood mall. Is itdangerous thereor any other part of Bismarck. What are your likes and dislikes of the city? Is the bus system reliable?

Thanks!

What is the name of the apartment complex? There are some apts just south of Kirkwood mall; I would not rent there personally.

We are going to be just west of the mall. Why not south? Is there a "hood" in Bismarck?

There aren't any real "hoods" in Bismarck, although some of the areas around the mall are a little rough; welfare blocks/apts, thug wannabes walking around, some less than desirable trailer parks, etc...

Just west of the mall can be hit or miss.

Depending on where you are moving from, it may be unlikely that you will perceive any parts of Bis as dangerous. I would go anywhere, any time of day, but of course, use common sense. The crime is nothing like in a big city. It's all relative though, so maybe let us know where you're moving from and we can provide some stats on crime comparisons.

I am moving from NYC and grew up in one of the roughest neighborhoods. So probably a "dangerous" area would seem nice to me. lol

Hi. Bis will seem nothing like NYC in terms of dangerous. I hope you like it there - it will be quite a change. Best wishes.
