Wow internationalman, I was seriously just about to say "exactly"! Talk about stealing the word right out of my mouth!
Haha! Well I was pretty incredulous when I first read Golfer's comment/question. I was thinking, "you have got to be kidding me!!!!!" If the place has no housing it is not going to change just because the company puts us up during our work rotation.
At any rate I actually found housing, wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, so I won't need to do the Chateau Walmart or the tipi thing.
ShagKing - if I get the job confirmed on Tuesday... I might be seeing you up there, depending on when the Operations guy wants me to come back up... told him I only needed a couple of days notice... if so, I'll PM you so we can get together... If not I can give you a couple of names to talk to when you get there at the Chateau...
As well... if I get the confirmation I will provide additional info that I have kept back until I get MY job... AND my guys up there should be updating me soon on their status... I will share with all what they find... There are 10 of them active in Williston right now... (unless a couple of them have scooted out... LOL)
I actually had found a lead on a room but this girl was so wierd on the phone and e-mails. She just would not quit talking. She had so many rules like only me not my husband. She will only get a female roomate. Also was 850. and right now just want to wait. I have a feeling once my husband gets settled in a job and "pray to God" gets into a mancamp, I can either leave or then look to rent a room short term I saw other ads too looking for female only roomates. Anyways I really don't like living with people I don't know, LOL....
Yes indeed. I was told by the owner of the home that many companies will provide a housing allowance/stipend, so all in all it is not that bad of a deal.
Golfer, you said is better to have the CDL permit, to which I already knew that and my husband passed it he is waiting for haz-mat fingerprints to clear from immigration it may take longer than normal as he just got his residence, but anyways do they want the haz-mat test passed too? Also which companies that you saw were hiring people with just the permit?
From what I heard from one of the oilfield recruiters there are 5 or 6 companies (I know that Halliburton and schlumberger want you to have one and the company I interviewed with told me I would have to get my permit before I come back up and complete the CDL with them in order to stay employed) that want you to have a CDL in order to drive their bigger trucks... forgot what she called them but NOT semis.. big box type trucks....
As well, if you have the permit, I suppose it shows you are serious about completing the process, plus the companies don't have to take a chance on hiring someone who might not be able to pass the written part, so they are hedging their bets so to speak... Heard nothing regarding the hazmat part but like anything else... doesn't hurt to have one.
Thanks, my husband has been battling this permit thing righ tnow he only has a paper he past written test, it took 2 x, but someone from dmv says he needed fingerprinting for haz-mat and sent us farther. Anyways we don't want to wait anymore but ya, at least he did pass it.
