We drove1600 miles with our 7 month old daughter for dreams of a better life. We are in Bismarck and loving it. Everyon is very friendly. We found an awesome apartment and the husband is leaving in a few days to Dickinson to search for the big bucks. He will try williston if theres not much there. This forum was very helpful and i thank everyone. We took a huge risk but feel like it was the right choice. We know of the houing issueup in Williston but am looking for any leads on the best high paying jobs. I posted before but now that we are actually here i wanted to see if anyone has any pointers. Thanks so much!!
can i ask what type of deal on apt. 2-3bd /price /month to month-or 1yr lease. And congrats on your little one and your 1600mile treck. big risk-hopefully big reward....
Thanks! We have only been here two days and already love it. We found a 2 br apartment 6 month lease for 700. All utilities inluded and very very spacious! I called a month in advance but from what the locals are saying we got lucky because theres a housing shortage even here in Bismarck due to the flood. God seems to b our side so far. I am hoping the husband snags a job quick.
So glad to hear you are happy so far and that you found a good apartment. Best wishes for gainful employment! I think about North Dakota and will be visiting Fargo for a day in January just to walk around downtown and meet up with some friends there.
Keep posted on developments. I read Clay Jenkinson's columns in the Bismarck paper sometimes. He's quite the treasure of North Dakota, he's the guy you've heard of who impersonates Thomas Jefferson. His newspaper column is about life in Bismarck.
Congrats! Hope you enjoy North Dakota. Make sure to come back and post in Feb.
Why post in February? Is the winter worse in February? I just wonder if alot of people will leave North Dakota because of winter. I'm from Michigan so I know all about winter weather.
