You could always look for a job somewhere other than the oilfields.

There are jobs all over the state. Sure, most other jobs will only pay half to 2/3 of oilfield wages, but your expenses will be way less than 1/2 of what it will cost to live in the oilfields.....and there is plenty of reasonable priced housing in the eastern 1/2 of the state. Go to jobsnd.com.

That is what I am thinking of doing. I really liked Fargo area when I was there.

Housing in Fargo & Grand Forks is generally a little more expensive, but still nothing like oilfield rates. Did you want to be in the big town for a specific reason?

Actually I prefer smaller towns. I see you are in Valley city which I have been to. Nice town. The reason for bigger city is, have to go where the jobs are and really don't want a long commute due to gas prices and winter driving.

I just looked on jobsnd and in a 10 mile radius of town there are 89 open job descriptions representing 152 positions. 25 mile radius - 100/172 50 mile radius (which would cover the Jamestown area) - 413/589. Some are minimum wage, but there's quite a few in the $15-$20/ hour range and a few over that.

Hey there was wondering if you might give me some information as I am looking to bring my RV to either Fairfield, ND or Dickinson, ND. What is the name of the place you are at?

Thank you,
Ruth

I too have a local company (not oil) looking to bring me on board so the housing issue is a concern. This company is in Dickinson so I would look outside of Williston. ND would be a big change as my family would be relocating from Northern CA. (Reno, NV 1.5 Hrs). What other towns near Dickinson would be the best to review ?
