As with everything on both sides, follow the money. Or in some cases the lack of it, which can create animosity towards those who do have it.
More and more people are waking up to realize that money is not the magic key to happiness. I'm not a greenie, tree hugger or a liberal. But I am smart enough to know that if we let our water supply become contaminated, or our ND environment to be tainted, all the money in the world won't fix it. Money isn't everything to some, it is to many - and in my opinion, it is thanks to the rampant greed of our society that our country teeters on the brink of financial disaster.

I was just in western North Dakota two weeks ago, south of Williston, to photograph in the Patch. I was taken to an open pit for liquid contaminants disposal by a relative who's lived in the area his entire life. It's on the western side of Highway 85, several miles north of its junction with Highway 200. The pits are terraced; some are completely covered over, while two others I saw were still open & in active use.
