I posted this on my facebook and had a crabby Uncle start in on the fact that he sees no relief at the pump and what good is it if it's all going to China!
In the scheme of things, this is a drop in the bucket. It's a start and it's progress and we who are tied to the ND oil industry and even outside do benefit, but God forbid if it's not a direct hit to improve the average Joe's wallet!
This experience we are having and it's impact in our lives is really opening our eyes to the people in it. My phone does not ring as often and my posts are nearly ignored now on facebook and even immediate family members turn their back, so it seems. How sad that people can not be happy for us. Can not see that the American dream is still alive and well, especially in the grimmest of times in American history, in one small pocket of the United States. Can they not say, "WOW, good for you!" or "Congratulation!"
This taking a chance in ND comes with personal sacrifice. Families are separated and people live in tents or sleep in their cars or do whatever it takes but they are DOING IT!
In the past my husband and I learned a lot about the people in our lives through things like cancer and sending our sons off to war, but this is really the most shocking.
I can't wait to get out there to live and work around the friends we have made. I know some of them will be like family to us as they know what this is about and they share our same values and ambitions. We get to see first hand the many who are getting to or have attained solid financial ground again and I can't wait to be around people who celebrate that!
Sorry to chose to vent here but I have to wonder if I am the only one who is having this experience?

The more, the better, very happy to see larger #'s coming from the Bakken...I was surprised to read this, though...

U.S. dependence on mid-east oil rises. After a period of cutting dependence on foreign oil, particularly from the Persian Gulf, sales to the U.S. from Saudi Arabia have picked up, growing 26% on year to 1.45M bpd in the first five months of 2012. The rise is partly driven by the sanctions on Iran, but again leaves the U.S. increasingly exposed to the instability in the region.
