I am 30 years old and physically disabled due to having arthritis, which dramatically limits my work options by cutting me off from anything that requires prolonged standing or physical activity. Shortly after I became disabled, the recession hit, wiping out entry-level job opportunities for anything that would be physically appropriate. As a result of the bleak circumstances, I became permanently unemployable in this economy, fell into a deep depression and basically gave up in despair.
I am looking into moving to North Dakota in the hope of overcoming my barriers to employment. Due to my physical problems, I cannot go to Williston and work in the oilfields. But Bismarck might be a good bet.
If I travel to Bismarck, do you think I can find physically light work? Where should I look and what steps should I take to find it? Is there any way to gather more information about what my chances of finding a job might be?
I recently moved from Bismarck. You absolutely will be able to find work. The economy is great there. Many jobs open in the area. North Dakota has a job service that lists tons of openings. Just search for the Bismarck area and good luck on your adventure.
Crazy... I applied for a job in Bismarck on the jobs service website and got a call back the next day to set up a phone interview....i've been applying to jobs like it for years in Washington and can't even get a call back from McDonald's or Goodwill... god bless fracking

Good deal, there's tons of opportunity there and it's a nice town.
