I live in Midland, TX where we also have a housing shortage. Ironically, we have a vacation house located in South Dakota between Sturgis and Deadwood. Friends of ours in the Spearfish area have told us that people in Western North Dakota are buying properties in the Spearfish and Belle Fourche areas because of the housing shortage in ND. Since my kids are getting older and they are not wanting to vacation all summer in the Black Hills any more, we are considering putting our home for sale but am wondering if it is worth it to advertise in ND since they are experiencing a housing shortage. Any advice or suggestions? Thanks, Pam

Just a thought but being that close to Sturgis, You can probably get your highest price by selling it as potential development for Rally uses.
It's a 5 hour to 6 hour haul each way for oil workers. The issue you'll have is zoning as they may not be able to do what they want with the property. Sturgis is trying to eliminate the expansion of the rally space as it goes unused the rest of the year.
It can't hurt but I think it's too far south personally.
