All I can relate is how I've been treated by North Dakotans. The word is "fabulous." I was single and just out of the army where I was stationed in New York City. No kidding! After screwing up a job in my home town, I got a lead that KVOX in Moorhead, MN, which is across the river from Fargo, needed a chief engineer and nighttime announcer. I was most fortunate to get the job from owner Bob Engstad. NoDakians will recognize the name of that entrepeneur.
I have nothing but praise for everyone I ever met in the Fargo/Moorhead area. They have great stories and accept anyone. I don't know who these other standoffish people are in NoDak that people talk about.
Radio and TV are very, very big in Fargo/Moorhead. Legendary DJ Bobby Dale spent several years at KFGO. And now an old buddy of mine, Tom Wynn is PD there. Bobby Dale was later a top DJ in LA and San Francisco. And songster Bobby Vee is from Fargo. Peggy Lee is a North Dakotan.
I would suggest that if we moved to Palestinians and other Middle East riff-raff to Western North Dakota, they would all become friends.
So here's a toast to North Dakota!
BTW, we spent a night in a motel in Grand Forks. What a city!!! Fantastic places to eat. Tons of industry.
