No, just my blood line. Spent a lot of summers near there in the 50's and early 60's. Did a lot of horseback riding and listening to the 'old folks' talk about how horrible the gumbo mud was when it rained. I remember feeling they spoiled the town when they paved the streets.
As a kid, I wanted to moved there. That was, until I spent one winter there. Trips to the outhouse weren't nearly as fun as they were during the summer.
I currently reside in Killdeer. Just moved back to North Dakota from a 6 year stay in Mississippi. Will be moving to Dickinson soon. Sure would like to find a map with hiking trails of the Killdeer Mountains. (other than the USGS maps). About a dozen years ago I drove to the Killdeer Mountains and found some BLM land where I could park the car and start out on a little hiking. Seems there were a bunch of crabapple trees in that area. I'll probably never find it again.
