I hear you.
They lost out though. Being so closed minded and paranoid lost them some nice new neighbors.

Their big mistake?

Going public with the sale.

should have kept it in the church newsletter - not advertised it on the internet.
These small cities will die if "out siders" uch as ourselvs are not wecomed.

So that means we automatically suspect those who are different from of us as being up to no-good?

I didnt say that.

"man is afraid of what he does not know, he will always take familiar over non familiar... human nature."

I believe this is pretty easy to understand, take it at face value, dont put words into it..

I'm taking it in the context of the thread, that's all.

my 2 prior posts are very concise for this area. I have lived here my whole life as have 2 generations of my family before me

I am simply stating my experiences and observations of this small microcosm of NEPA.

As am I. I am saying that being unfamiliar with someone or a group of people is grounds to be suspicious.

if its grounds for you thats your prerogative, Om simply saying a close knit neighborhood tries as a whole to preserve itself and misconceptions aside , it happens around thes parts more often than not.

sometimes a neighborhood can be TOO close nit.
sometimes xenophobia can really be the downfall of a town or village.
We were wiling to give West Pittston a chance.
W.P. did not reciprocate.

So they will reap what they sow...
and trust me you will see this...

Somehow I think West Pittston will survive. The OP sounds overly sensitive and looking for a bogeyman. To judge a whole town as being xenophobic because of the actions of one home-seller and one bad driver who may or may not have been from the area is small-minded. You are lucky that you have never faced real prejudice, otherwise you would know how silly this all sounds.

And, no, I'm not from West Pittston, just saw this thread and wanted to respond.
